Hi i've looked at the marking system that has been put into place to try to locate the fishes migration and location throughout the winter months and think its a fantastic idea, the only concern about the canal is the amount of cormorants that have settled onto the canal as a home last winter i fished on numerous occasions and had seen very few of the birds about, i went for a walk down the canal on fri 15 jan 2010 with a view to fishing in the next couple of weeks but found approx 20 cormorants having a right feast just a couple of hours watching them each bird had at least 30 fish which is of great concern, stocking of fish is good but they are decimating the stocks at an alarming rate, i've fished the canal for years and would like to carry on its one of our areas fantastic silver fish venues but am reluctant to travel to have a not so productive days fishing, and speaking to locals who walk the bank and fish the venue its becoming alarming especially when some of them have fished there for more years than I can remember, I am talking about the Pollington stretch, It needs to be addressed in some way before another fantastic venue is lost forever. Many regards.
